- Restrictions
- Himeji Castle is built on a 46-meter hill with many steep stairs and no elevators. Wheelchair users cannot tour alone, but with 2–3 experienced helpers, you can visit the main keep area safely.(Visiting with only one helper is dangerous.)
- Kokoen Garden can be enjoyed by visitors using wheelchairs.
- No smoking is allowed in Himeji Castle. There are no smoking areas within the paid areas to protect cultural properties. This also applies to heated tobacco and e-cigarettes.
- There are no trash bins inside Himeji Castle. Please take your trash with you.
- Flying unmanned aircraft (drones) over Himeji Castle and Kokoen Garden is prohibited.
- The use of monopods, tripods, selfie sticks, and similar equipment for photography is prohibited inside Himeji Castle buildings. Photography may also be restricted outdoors depending on crowd conditions.
- Strollers and walkers (silver cars) are generally not allowed inside Himeji Castle. Please leave strollers in the designated area and store any luggage with wheels in the lockers before entering.
- Pets are not permitted inside Himeji Castle or Kokoen Garden.
- For safety reasons, entry to the castle grounds or garden after drinking alcohol is prohibited.
- Re-entry into the castle grounds or garden is not permitted. Refunds after entry into the castle grounds or park are not available.
- To change the date or the number of people, please cancel your purchased tickets and buy new ones.
- What to Bring
- Shoes must be removed before entering buildings such as the main tower of Himeji Castle.
- As this is an ancient wooden structure, splinters may occasionally occur. Especially in winter, it can be extremely cold. For your comfort and safety, we recommend bringing thick socks with non-slip grips or indoor shoes with heels.
- Himeji Castle has many slopes and stairways, and the route to the main keep is comparable to a light hike. Please wear comfortable, easy-to-move-in clothing.

- To ensure all visitors exit by closing time, windows and doors of the main keep, Nishi-no-Maru, and Hyakken Rōka corridor begin to be closed from 4:30 PM. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.
